The Regional Population Office (RPO), led by Dir. Magdalena G. Abellera, met with around 110 volunteers and key officials in the Province of Abra today. The RPO reported its accomplishments from the 2019 Intensified National Program for Population and Family Planning (NPPFP) through a Stakeholders’ Conference at the Abra Provincial Hall in the Capitol of Bangued on January 28, 2020.
POPCOM-CAR through the efforts of Local Government Units and Barangay Population volunteers were able to reach and provide Family Planning information to 12,651 couples and women of reproductive ages (WRA) between October to December 2019.
Out of these couples and WRA, 4,781 were identified to have unmet need in modern Family Planning or those who either were not using any method but intend to and those who declared an intention to shift to other modern methods. Those identified who were provided with FP services at local health units and service caravans were accounted for 1,321 couples and individuals. The remaining women and couples who have unmet need will be engaged by local health and population staff to ensure that they will provided with the FP services they want.
Part of the conference was the acknowledgement of volunteers, health staff and barangay officials who went above and beyond what they were asked for the program.
